Cold Bacon & Dirt Pies

"When the quality get together to dine, it's impolite to knock anybody off with anything other than poison.  That thing is for scooping butter, not slicing windpipes."
“This is a lot of trouble to go to just to eat.”
“Well in Shades Hill you may be able to eat cold bacon and dirt pies off one another’s asses for all your old master cares, but now you’re a Gentleman Bastard.  Emphasis on the gentleman.”

The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch

Oh man, this book has been so awesome to listen to during my commute.  I’m really looking forward to participating in the read along.  Michael Page has been a fantastic narrator and just about everything going on is completely despicable.  What’s not to like?

  1. You are lucky that you like the narrator. I recently bought my first two audio books and while I loved the stories, I thought the narrator sounded like an elderly two-pack-a-day smoker. I also agree that it is impolite to kill with anything other than poison during a civilized meal.

    1. This is the danger of audiobooks. The wrong narrator can do real damage to an otherwise great book. I've actually heard the same narrator kill one book and then for another he was just terrible. That being said, when an audiobook works, it REALLY works.
